The National Coal Supply Corporation is responsible for coal supply to Israel. Coal is a strategic energy source for the Israeli Electric Corporation, owing to considerations of storage, emergency backup, reliability and continuity of supply. Coal is also the main and most cost effective fuel, compared with natural gas and other gasses. Around 30% of the electricity in Israel is manufactured from coal.
